"Pin Tumbler Push Key Padlocks"

The photography and research in this site was done by Neil Pylant. Neil is a collector, historian, and publisher of antique padlocks. Many thanks to Neil for his hard work and generosity in making this site possible.

For an in depth study on Pin Tumbler Push Key Padlocks you will want a copy of The Padlock Reference Handbook By Neil Pylant. Along with the individual illustrations of the padlocks there is a treasure trove of historical information on hardware companies, lock manufactures, and a cataloging system for the many different varieties. To order a copy of this book contact: Neil Pylant

I want to thank Richard Bruno, and Mike Pitman for editing this category. They have added many varieties from their personal collections, some of which are one of a kind.

Traditionally the obverse of the padlock is identified when the shackle pins are positioned on the right hand side. Some padlocks were manufactured with the customers name on the Obverse and others on the Reverse . For this study we will identify the obverse by the customers name, or the manufactures name.

The "Pylant Reference" will be noted in the text as (PK-LS-073-S1).
